Policies
Welcome to middle school. Here are a few policies and expectations parents/guardians should know, and students already do.
1.Each student is responsible for his/her own work.
2. The student is responsible for completing any work assigned. If it is not completed in class it is expected to be completed at home on his/her own time.
3. Late work
4. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain any missing work.
5. Extra credit must be COMPLETED to be added to the gradebook.
6. Cheating of any kind is not accepted and will result in a 0%. No exceptions.
7. Any quiz or test under a 70% requires a parent/guardian signature (not initials). If it is not returned by the date requested it will result in a detention.
8. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their binder is up-to-date and all materials are completed.
9. The student is responsible for studying on his/her own time.
10. The student is responsible for his/her own actions or lack thereof.
11. It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to check weebly regularly if they would like to know what his/her child is learning.
12. It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to check Power Schools regularly to keep track of missing work and grade status.
13. It is my responsibility as the teacher to teach the materials in class, hold all parties accountable for their responsibilities, accurately record student’s grades in Power School, and ensuring all school and classroom rules and policies are followed.
***DETENTIONS***
They are a part of the school's policy as well as mine.
Warning, parent contact, detention are the typical steps of action for consequences; however, certain actions including not getting a test signed by a parent or guardian or placing hands/bringing harm to another student are examples of actions that will result in an automatic detention.
Detentions are served with Miss Johnson in her room on Mondays 7:30 am - 8:00 am before school.
No lunch detentions are available.
Thank you,
Miss Johnson
1.Each student is responsible for his/her own work.
- Turning in completed assignments on time to the designated bin. – Due dates are told at the beginning of an assignment. It is recommended that students write the date down.
- Labeling it with their first and last name on the top left and date with period number on the right (unless otherwise instructed).
- After semester 1 assignments not labeled will be placed in the recycle bin.
- A reminder, grades are earned by students and only recorded by myself and other teachers.
2. The student is responsible for completing any work assigned. If it is not completed in class it is expected to be completed at home on his/her own time.
3. Late work
- Each day an assignment is late a letter grade is taken away from the assignment’s grade.
- After 3 days the highest that can be earned is a 50%
- This means if it is 10 questions, five answers are incorrect, and it was turned in on day 3 that the grade will be 20%.
- If it is 10 questions, five answers are incorrect, and it was turned in on any day after day 3 the grade is a 0%.
- No late work is accepted the last week of the quarter.
- Late work is recorded as a 0% until the assignment is turned in to be graded. This helps students understand the consequence of not completing and turning in assignments.
4. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain any missing work.
- Ask a friend what was missed.
- Ask the teacher for the papers passed out the day he/she was absent.
- All students have been shown multiple times how to access Miss Johnson’s weebly. They should have the first paper in their binder with the weebly website as well.
- It is the student’s responsibility to reprint any material he/she misplaced.
5. Extra credit must be COMPLETED to be added to the gradebook.
- It is only accepted if the student has no missing work in my class.
- It is the student’s responsibility to print it from weebly.
- It is the student’s responsibility to turn in any extra credit the day before that chapter’s test. No exceptions.
- It must be turned into the correct bin and labeled appropriately.
6. Cheating of any kind is not accepted and will result in a 0%. No exceptions.
- Each student is instructed on not doing anything that could be conceived as cheating because it will result in a 0%.
- It is important to closely listen to instructions, so all quiz and test rules may be adhered to.
- It is the student’s responsibility to pay attention.
7. Any quiz or test under a 70% requires a parent/guardian signature (not initials). If it is not returned by the date requested it will result in a detention.
- Students are responsible for remembering to get the paper signed and returned on time.
8. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their binder is up-to-date and all materials are completed.
9. The student is responsible for studying on his/her own time.
10. The student is responsible for his/her own actions or lack thereof.
- This includes but is not limited to not being a distraction in class and actively paying attention as well as participating.
- Being on time and prepared.
- Not eating or drinking anything other than water in class.
11. It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to check weebly regularly if they would like to know what his/her child is learning.
